Duane A. Stoppel, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on July 17, 1924 in Wilson, Kansas, the son of Chris & Clara Fry Stoppel Sr. Duane was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1929 moving from Wilson, Kansas, he was a farmer and stockman.
His memberships include the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas, Kansas Livestock Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association.
On September 14, 1950 he married Verlene Dobrinski in Scott City, Kansas. She survives.
Survivors include his Wife - Verlene Stoppel of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sons - Mike & Becky Stoppel of Holcomb, Kansas, Dwight & Sheree Stoppel of Osage City, Kansas, Five Grandsons - Chris Stoppel of Fairborn, Ohio, Kelly Stoppel of Scott City, Kansas, Blake Stoppel of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kaleb Stoppel of Kansas City, Missouri, Nick Stoppel of Kansas City, Missouri, Five Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Son â Jeff Stoppel, and One Brother â Melvin Stoppel.
Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009 with Pastor Warren Prochnow presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas % Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
