Garden City, Kansas Russell R. Tremain, Age 89, died Monday, September 5, 2005 @ the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 20, 1916 @ Garden City, Kansas the son of Russell E. and Sarah E. Rice Tremain. He had been a lifetime resident of Garden Ciy. During World War II, he helped construct the Garden City Airbase, and then became a member of the Garden City Airbase Fire & Crash Department for 4 years. In 1950, he bought East Side Iron and Metal and he managed the company for 33 years retiring and turning the business over to his niece and her husband in 1983. He was a member of the Community Congregational Church, American Legion, and 40 year member of the Aerie 3124 Eagles Lodge, all of Garden City. He sponsored a bowling team for nearly 40 years, enjoyed bowling & playing pool with his friends. Survivors include: 1 Niece Gretchen Zimmerman Garden City, Kansas Caretaker Robert Lee Rose Garden City, Kansas He was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Funeral Services: 10:30AM, Friday, September 9, 2005 Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas Officiating: Rev.
